Evidence for the resurrection from the Bible

The resurrection is the key part of Christianity, without this key fact, the whole of Christianity is a lie. It would disprove that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and that he is the son of God.

In fact this is the position of Islam. That Jesus never died on the cross and therefore the Prophet Mohammed was sent.

However there is a great deal of evidence that the resurrection did take place. 500 people saw Jesus after he had died. “seen of above five hundred brethren at once” (1 Corinthians 15:6)

He also appeared to the disciples “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee onto a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, 'All power is given unto Me in Heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.' Amen.” (Matthew 28:16-20)

In fact in the New Testament there are 19 descriptions of various people seeing Jesus after his death. In order for a man to be proven Guilty it requires one witness however there are more than 500 listed in the Bible!

However we don't just have to look inside the Bible for evidence of the resurrection there is also evidence outside of the Bible
